KABUL: Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, recently warned in a meeting in London that China poses “real threats to national security for Britain.”
According to Sky News today, the Prime Minister stated that London requires a clear policy towards Beijing, one that effectively addresses the national security threats posed by China.
He added: “For years, we have had a dual approach to China. At one point, we called it a ‘golden era,’ and then we reached a ‘frozen period.’ We reject this duality of choice.”
Starmer emphasized that Britain’s response to these threats will not be driven by fear or naive optimism, but rather grounded in “clarity and realism.”
However, the senior UK official did not provide further details on the specific threats China poses to the nation’s security.
Nevertheless, the Prime Minister defended his upcoming visit to China next year, stating that the UK cannot remain disengaged from the world’s second-largest economy and a decisive force in technology.
This comes amid rising concerns about Chinese espionage in the British Parliament and the construction of a large Chinese embassy in London, which has recently become a hot topic in British political circles.
