Dr. Naeem: Investigations ongoing into killing of Chinese citizens in border areas

KABUL: Dr. Mohammad Naeem, the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs has stated that investigations into the circumstances of the attack and killing of Chinese citizens in border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan are underway.
According to a statement from the Ministry today, he made the remarks during a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador Zhao Xing.
Mr. Naeem added that the attack on Chinese citizens at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border is the work of those attempting to create distrust between Kabul and Beijing. He expressed regret over the loss of life of the Chinese citizens, referring to the perpetrators of the attack as enemies.
Meanwhile, Zhao Xing, the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, expressed gratitude for the Islamic Emirate’s position and actions regarding the mentioned attack. He also emphasized that those behind the attack aim to destroy relations between China and Afghanistan.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to developing and sustaining cooperation between Kabul and Beijing.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently assured its Tajik counterpart of its full readiness for a comprehensive investigation into the attack on Chinese citizens in Tajikistan.
