Pakistan has turned trade routes with Afghanistan into tools of political pressure, official

KABUL: The country’s officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that the Pakistani government has transformed trade routes and geographical connections with Afghanistan into weapons and tools for political pressure.
Abdulhai Qanat, head of the Strategic Studies Center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during the Doha Forum on Sunday night.
He stated that Pakistan’s approach threatens regional economic issues, warning that if this challenge is not addressed, regional economies will face significant risks.
He also emphasized the need for Afghanistan and Pakistan to sit and seek solutions to this problem.
According to him, the current situation is a transient crisis, and he hopes for a swift resolution.
The statements come in light of recent comments from Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, who stated that without obtaining credible guarantees from the Pakistani government, Afghanistan’s crossings with this country will remain closed.
