KABUL: The Minister of Public Health, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, met with Sanjay Wijesekera, head of UNICEF’s regional office for South Asia, to discuss various health issues.
According to a statement from the ministry, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding cooperation, existing challenges, joint efforts, and the needs of the health sector.
Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali stated, “The health sector in Afghanistan, alongside its current capacities, still requires support from international partners to achieve effective changes in maternal and child health, vaccination, nutrition, control of communicable diseases, and provision of essential health services.”
During the meeting, Sanjay Wijesekera expressed confidence that UNICEF would continue its support and collaboration with the health sector in Afghanistan and would enhance efforts to garner support among international donors.
