Pentagon’s new report: China expected to attack Taiwan in 2027

KABUL: A recent report from the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) indicates that China will attain the necessary capabilities to launch an attack on Taiwan by 2027.

Reuters, which has obtained a draft of this report, states that the Pentagon anticipates a potential attack on Taiwan in 2027.

The report, focused on the expansion of China’s military capabilities, claims that China expects to be ready to engage and potentially win a conflict over Taiwan by the end of 2027.

According to the report, China may carry out attacks on targets located between 2,778 and 3,704 kilometers from its shores.

The Pentagon has also stated that China could be positioning around 100 intercontinental ballistic missiles at newly constructed silos near its Mongolian border.

Details regarding the specific targets within the range of these newly deployed missiles have not been disclosed in the report.

Additionally, the report highlights that China is expanding its nuclear arsenal at a faster rate than any other nuclear-armed country.

It notes that China had over 600 nuclear warheads by the previous year (2024), a number that is projected to exceed 1,000 by 2030.

China has yet to respond to the draft Pentagon report regarding its military capabilities.
