Turkish Ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and National Intelligence Chief meets Syrian President in Damascus

KABUL: Hakan Fidan, Yaşar Güler, and İbrahim Kalın, Turkey’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and National Intelligence, respectively, have made an official visit to Syria, SANA, the Syrian state news agency, reported on Monday evening.

According to the report, the Turkish officials met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and discussed the bilateral relations between Ankara and Damascus over the past year, along with the latest regional developments.

The meeting was attended by As’ad Shibani, Turan Marhaf Abu Qasr, and Hussain Salameh, the Syrian Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Director-General of Intelligence.

The report mentions that relations between Syria and Turkey have been continuously expanding since the country moved away from the previous regime, with both governments committed to strengthening cooperation across all areas to serve the interests of both nations.

Details of the discussions between the senior officials from Turkey and Syria were not provided.

It is notable that following the collapse of the former Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad, Ankara has maintained close and strong relations with Damascus.
