A deadly clash occurred between police and protesters in India

KABUL: In the Indian state of Assam, a violent confrontation between police and protesters has resulted in the deaths of two people, along with over 50 others injured, including police officers.

“The incident occurred in the Karbi Anglong district, where local residents were protesting against land usurpations. The peaceful demonstration escalated into violence,” said authorities.

Reports indicate that protesters set several shops on fire and attacked the home of a local official, while police were also pelted with stones by demonstrators.

In response to the escalating security situation, officials declared a curfew in the area and suspended all internet services.
