KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, kicked off work on four developmental electricity projects in Herat province, and inaugurated five other projects.
According to Omid Radio correspondent, during the inauguration ceremony, Mullah Baradar stated that the projects will provide round-the-clock electricity to Herat’s industrial parks, benefiting rural areas, commercial centers, and residential sectors.
Mr. Baradar Akhund added that these initiatives will ensure a reliable and permanent electricity supply from domestic sources.
The inaugurated projects include the extension of a 220 kV line from Turkmenistan over a length of 130 kilometers, as well as the construction of four substations in the districts of “Karukh, Pashtun Zarghun, Oba, and Chisht Sharif” in Herat province.
With the completion of these five projects, 40,000 families will gain access to electricity.
Additionally, the recently initiated projects include the construction of the “Shuhadae 24 Hoot” substation, the establishment of the Noor-al-Jihad substation, and the extension of the power transmission line between the substation of Pul Hashimi, Noor-al-Jihad, and Shuhadae 24 Hoot.
It is noteworthy that with each passing day, Afghanistan is making significant strides toward self-sufficiency in electricity production.
