KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the occupation of Afghanistan was a mistake, and this significant error was facilitated by the deception of local collaborators.
According to Omid Radio correspondent, Muttaqi made the remarks today during a memorial event commemorating the sixth of January, where he said that the defeat of three occupiers in Afghanistan serves as a lesson for all foreigners not to commit similar mistakes in the country again.
He emphasized that the end of the occupation of Afghanistan resulted in a defeat for the occupiers on a global level.
He noted that history has proven that Afghanistan has been the graveyard of empires.
Muttaqi further stressed that the defeat of the occupiers in Afghanistan has always brought benefits to the world.
It is significant to mention that every year, the sixth of January is observed in Afghanistan as a day of mourning, marking the beginning of the armed jihad against the Soviet Union’s occupation.
