UN: 4 out of 5 people in Kabul vulnerable to climate change

KABUL: The UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) in a post on its X stated today that 4 out of 5 residents in Kabul are at risk from the impacts of climate change.

According to the UN, this situation highlights the urgent need for urban climate action in Kabul.

The statement notes, “ Kabul, which houses over 40% of Afghanistan’s urban population, has 4 out of every 5 residents living in informal settlements.”

However, the UN agency did not provide specific solutions in this regard.

Efforts by governmental agencies to improve living conditions and mitigate the effects of climate change in Kabul and across the country are ongoing.
