KABUL: At least 3 police officers and 6 ISIS militants have been killed, with 8 police personnel and 1 civilian injured in a clash between Turkish police forces and ISIS members in Turkey.
According to the Associated Press, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported today, that the clash began when police forces raided a house in the al-Mali district of northwestern Turkey, south of Istanbul, where ISIS members were hiding.
Yerlikaya noted that this operation was part of a coordinated effort involving 100 simultaneous operations against ISIS across 15 provinces in Turkey.
The Interior Minister emphasized that the operation was conducted “with great precision” due to the presence of women and children in the targeted house. He mentioned that five women and six children were safely evacuated by security forces from the location.
Yerlikaya also confirmed that all the killed ISIS fighters were Turkish citizens.
These operations come shortly after Turkish intelligence captured a prominent ISIS member from the border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan and brought them back to Turkey.
