Deputy PM Mullah Baradar discusses railway development with Iranian delegation

KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with Jabbar Ali Zakeri, the head of Iran’s railways, to discuss various issues.
According to a statement from the Deputy PM’s office, both sides talked about economic relations, trade, and collaboration on railway development between Afghanistan and Iran.
Jabbar Ali Zakeri expressed interest in expanding the railway through Afghanistan to connect China with Europe, leveraging Afghanistan’s strategic location.
He proposed the establishment of a joint committee and discussions with companies regarding this matter.
Additionally, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund mentioned that he had previously discussed the project’s value with the Iranian President three years ago and provided information about its economic significance.
Mullah Baradar also stated that a joint committee would be formed to initiate practical steps in this regard soon.
