KABUL: In response to the U.S. arrest of the President of Venezuela, Abdullah Azzam, head of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stated that Washington is trying to compensate for its failure in Afghanistan in Caracas.
In a post on his X page, he shared that, as much reputation and credibility a “violator” earns in other parts of the world, they lose in Afghanistan.
He wrote: “The more reputation and credibility a violator gains in other parts of the world, the more they lose in Afghanistan, their standing is crushed, they leave in disgrace, and then seek to rebuild their lost credibility elsewhere.”
Azzam questioned how those who have been defeated in Afghanistan will hide their historical disgrace.
The comments come at a time when Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has repeatedly described his country’s withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021—leading to the resurgence of the Islamic Emirate—as a shameful defeat for the nation.
