KABUL: In the wake of a woman’s death at the hands of U.S. immigration officials, widespread protests against strict immigration policies have erupted across the country.
The Associated Press reported that thousands of American citizens poured into the streets and protested against these policies implemented by Donald Trump.
Minnesota and residents of its major cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, have filed a lawsuit against President Trump to halt the enforcement of immigration laws.
According to the filed complaint, the Department of Homeland Security has been accused of violating rights and other protections under the Constitution.
The lawsuit states, “These inadequately trained federal agents are aggressive and armed, and their widespread illegal actions have instilled fear in the people of Minnesota.”
They asked for the end of the extensive operations conducted by federal immigration officials in Minnesota and the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
The protests come as federal immigration authorities have launched a wide-scale operation against immigrants in Minnesota, deploying 2,000 agents.
This initiative has led to the detention of 2,000 individuals, marking it as one of the largest operations in history.
