Afghanistan, Bangladesh seek to expand trade ties

KABUL: Mawlavi Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation met with Mahbub Rahman, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of Bangladesh during their visit to the country.
According to a statement from the ministry today, the host country warmly welcomed the Afghan delegation, emphasizing the need to strengthen relations between Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on signing trade agreements, facilitating banking operations, offering preferential tariffs for Afghan goods, increasing trade volume, and importing pharmaceuticals and textiles to Afghanistan.
Additionally, both parties agreed to hold joint trade exhibitions in Kabul and Dhaka, introduce commercial attachés, and form a joint committee to address trade barriers.
It is noteworthy that a delegation led by Mawlavi Ahmadullah Zahid, accompanied by around 50 Afghan traders, recently traveled to Bangladesh.
