SPAIN: A collision between two high-speed trains in Spain has resulted in at least 21 fatalities and dozens of injuries.
According to state media, the incident occurred this afternoon in the “Adamuz” area, leading to significant casualties, and many individuals remain trapped within the trains.
Reports indicate that the crash was caused when the last three carriages of one train, carrying over 300 passengers, derailed and collided with another high-speed train.
Spain’s Minister of Transport, Oscar Puente, announced on his X account that all trains on the affected line have been redirected back to their original stations following the incident.
Additionally, the Spanish King and Queen, currently in Athens, expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
Authorities caution that these figures may not represent the final death toll, and the number of victims may rise further.
