Snow and rainfall, claim 61 lives, wound 110 others across 15 provinces

KABUL: Hafiz Mohammad Yusuf Hammad spokesman of the National Disaster Management Authority, in a videotape said today, that as a result of recent rain and snowfall over the past two days, at least 61 people have died and 110 others have been injured across 15 provinces.
According to him, the casualties occurred in Kabul, Parwan, Panjshir, Bamyan, Daykundi, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Herat, Ghor, Badghis, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Samangan, and Nuristan provinces.
The spokesperson also noted that 458 residential homes have been partially or completely destroyed, and 620 livestock have also been lost during this period, emphasizing that the figures are preliminary estimates from provincial surveys and may change in comprehensive and final assessments.
Hafiz Hamad stated that efforts are ongoing by provincial disaster management offices, through local emergency committees, to reopen communication routes between districts and provincial centers.
The National Disaster Management Authority has also confirmed that necessary assistance is being provided to the families of those affected by natural disasters through its provincial offices.
This comes as approximately 30 provinces in the country have experienced rain and snowfall in the past two days, with snowfall in some areas reaching over one meter.
