Interior Minister discusses key cooperation with UN deputy Secretary-General

KABUL: Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, Afghanistan’s Interior Minister, met with a delegation led by Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

According to the ministry, the meeting addressed several issues, including the development of engagement between Afghanistan and the international community, combating drug trafficking, strengthening economic stability, removing existing restrictions on the private sector, and improving the effectiveness of humanitarian aid.

During the meeting, Haqqani stated that serious and practical measures have been taken against the cultivation, production, and trafficking of drugs, leading to positive results.

He also emphasized the importance of enhancing constructive interaction between the Islamic Emirate and the international community.

The UN delegation praised the progress made in Afghanistan’s security situation and in the fight against drugs, assuring the continuation of humanitarian assistance.

It is worth noting that in the meeting, it was also indicated that working groups will hold their next session in Kabul under the framework of the Doha Third Process.
