Over 100 Afghans released from UAE prisons

KABUL: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan has confirmed that 108 Afghan citizens have been released from prisons in the United Arab Emirates.

Zia Ahmad Takal, head of the Information and Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement said today that the Afghan citizens were done under the direct guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the follow-up by the Afghan embassy in Abu Dhabi.

The Ministry noted that some of the individuals have returned to the country, while others will return shortly after completing their documentation processes.

The ministry in its statement expressed gratitude towards the cooperation and humanitarian actions of the UAE government and relevant institutions, assuring that efforts to follow up on the cases of Afghan prisoners abroad will continue consistently.

Just a few days earlier, dozens of Afghan prisoners were also released from Pakistani jails and entered the country through the Spin Boldak border crossing.
