UN: Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan killed 70 civilians, injured 478 in last three months of 2025

KABUL: At least 70 civilians were killed and 478 others injured in Afghanistan during the last three months of 2025 as a result of Pakistani military attacks, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported today, citing figures from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
According to the UN’s humanitarian coordination office in Afghanistan, the highest civilian casualties from Pakistani attacks occurred between October 10 and 17, 2025, coinciding with intense military tensions and conflicts between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The report states that UNAMA has documented the number of Afghan civilian casualties resulting from Pakistani military actions during this timeframe.
It mentions that since 2011, UNAMA has systematically recorded civilian casualties caused by clashes with Pakistani military forces in Afghanistan. The data indicate that civilian casualties during the last three months of 2025 are significantly higher than in previous years.
This comes amid ongoing tensions and confrontations between Afghan and Pakistani military forces, resulting in all border crossings along the imaginary Durand Line being closed since October 2025.
