Afghan man killed, wife injured in organised attack in Norway, police say

KABUL:  An Afghan couple has been killed and injured at their residence in Åsheimsdalen, located in the Arena area of Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city.

The Nordics Today online news network reported on Monday evening, noting that the couple’s identities have not been disclosed.

According to police officials, a 20-year-old Afghan citizen was attacked in an organized violent incident along with his wife, and he succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital. The police have confirmed that the condition of the injured wife is currently not critical.

The police have initiated a broad search to apprehend suspects involved in this violent event, setting up checkpoints and utilizing dogs, helicopters, and drones; however, no arrests have been made so far.

The report states that this Afghan couple arrived in Norway in 2021 and lived in the neighborhood where the incident occurred. Bergen, known for its low homicide rate, has seen a significant police response following the killing of this Afghan citizen.
