KABUL: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has expressed concern over the recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, calling for an immediate ceasefire between Kabul and Islamabad.
In a statement on Friday night, Tashkent reacted to the past two days of fighting and urged both sides to resolve all differences exclusively through peaceful means, including political and diplomatic dialogue.
The statement called on the parties to immediately declare a ceasefire, exercise restraint, and avoid any actions that could further escalate tensions.
It also emphasized the importance of adherence to the principles of national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and mutual respect among states.
The remarks come a day after Zabihullah Mujahid said in a press conference that while Afghanistan remains committed to defending its country and people, it is also prepared to resolve disputes through dialogue.
