Afghanistan, Uzbekistan sign $514 million trade agreements

KABUL: Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed a series of trade agreements worth over $514 million, focusing on food, non-food goods, and fuel cooperation, officials said.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, the deals were signed between the private sectors of both countries during a joint business forum, attended by the country’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, and Namangan Governor Shavkat Abdurazakov attended the event.

Azizi described Uzbekistan as a reliable partner in trade and investment, thanking Tashkent for its continued cooperation.

He also noted that both sides had agreed on preferential tariffs, with Uzbekistan offering facilitation measures for eight categories of Afghan export goods.

Abdurazakov emphasized the importance of industrial and production activities in Namangan and said stability in Afghanistan would benefit Uzbekistan, adding that deeper economic cooperation could strengthen ties between the two countries.
