KABUL: More than 28,000 foreign nationals entered and exited Afghanistan over the past year, according to official data.
The National Statistics and Information Authority said a total of 28,474 foreign travelers were recorded passing through airports and land border crossings in 1404 (2024–2025).
Of these, 16,276 individuals, including 728 women, entered the country, while 12,198 others, including 158 women, departed.
The majority of arrivals came through land crossings, with 16,090 people entering via border points and 182 by air.
According to the data, 2,369 visitors traveled to Afghanistan for tourism purposes, 115 for education, and the remaining 13,792 for work.
The highest number of arrivals was recorded at border crossings in Nimroz Province, followed by Herat Province, Faryab Province, and the Torkham Border Crossing.
Officials said other travelers entered through the Hairatan Border Crossing and Balkh airport.
