Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan launch work on a section of CASA-1000 project

KABUL: Officials of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have initiated work on a segment of the major electricity transmission project known as CASA-1000.

It is reported that Tajikistan will extend a 500-kilovolt line for electricity transmission as part of this segment.

The CASA-1000 project is a significant initiative aimed at transporting 1,300 megawatts of electricity to South Asia via Afghanistan.

According to officials, through CASA-1000, Afghanistan is expected to receive about 300 megawatts of electricity, and the government will also collect $50 million in transit fees.

Currently, with the efforts of the Islamic Emirate, the TAPI project is rapidly progressing through Afghan territory.
