KABUL: American lawmakers in the Senate have expressed their opposition to the tariff increase on imports from Canada by passing a resolution that cancels Donald Trump’s order.
Members of the U.S. Senate, particularly Democratic senators, approved this resolution on Wednesday night.
According to the decision made by the U.S. senators, the resolution passed with 51 votes in favor and 48 votes against.
It is expected that this resolution will be sent to the House of Representatives after voting in the Senate.
Among the supporters of this resolution, it has been noted that four Republican senators (Trump’s party members) also backed the measure.
Recently, Trump issued an executive order to impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada.
This order has faced a reciprocal reaction from the Canadian government.
