Minister of National Defense meets Chief of Intelligence and Border Forces of Uzbekistan

KABUL: The Acting Minister of National Defense Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid met with Abdul Salam Azizov, Chief of Intelligence and Border Forces of Uzbekistan, the ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

In the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing bilateral relations, fostering economic and transit cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.

“Afghanistan has made significant efforts to enhance country’s borders in the past year, and is determined to further strengthen border positions in the future,” the statement quoted Defense Minister as saying

Mawlavi Mohammad Yahqoob Mujahid assured Azizov and his accompanying delegation that Afghanistan’s national security and defense forces are fully prepared in all sectors, especially in the implementation of development and economic projects.

Also, the Uzbek delegation assured the strengthening and continuation of cooperation with Afghanistan.

After the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have strengthened.

This country has been an active member of the ‘Afghanistan Regional Cooperation Initiative’ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was held two days ago in Kabul.
