Contract for construction of commercial market worth 655 million Afghanis signed, ministry

KABUL: The contract for the construction of the Salahudin Ayubi Commercial Market, in Nangarhar, valued at 655 million Afghanis, has been signed, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement today.
The contract was signed between the Deputy Administrative Minister and the representative of the private sector, said the statement.
According to the statement, the market will be built as a public-private partnership on a plot of land measuring 7,094 square meters, with 3,360 square meters designated for construction across 16 floors.
The lower floor of the commercial market will serve as a parking area, while floors one to five will be designated for commercial activities, and floors six to sixteen will consist of residential apartments and will be completed within three years, said the statement.
The project will allocate 55% of its shares to the Islamic Emirate and 45% to the private sector, generating an estimated one billion Afghanis in revenue for the Islamic Emirate during its operation.
Notably, the project is being referred to as the largest commercial and residential center in the region.
