KABUL: Ahmad Wali Hotak, an Afghan mixed martial arts athlete, successfully defeated his opponent, Sigd Zirakov from Dagestan, Russia.
The match took place on Friday night in Belarus and was contested in the 70 kg weight category.
Hotak managed to secure the victory using a submission move.
With this win, Hotak increased his professional mixed martial arts record to eleven victories.
His Russian opponent, Zirakov, had previously recorded three wins and one loss in his competitive history.
Hotak’s victory has been met with enthusiasm from citizens and fans of mixed martial arts in Afghanistan.
Notably, he had been away from the fighting scene for the past three years.
