Afghanistan never recognize Durand Line as border of Afghanistan and Pakistan: Stanikzai

KABUL: The Deputy Political Minister of Foreign Affairs Sher Mohammad Abas Stanekzai, says that the Durand Line is not the official border between Afghanistan and Pakistan but that is an imaginary line.

Sher Mohammad Abas Stanekzai made the remarks during a gathering held in the central province of Logar to commemorate 26th of Dalwa the anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Red Army withdrawal from Afghanistan.

 “Throughout history, the Durand Line has not been recognized officially by the Afghan people, nor will it be recognized in the future,” he further said.

In a video clip that went viral on social media, Mr. Stanekzai, says building fences along the Durand Line and demanding passports and visas from the residents on both sides of the line is unacceptable.

He emphasized this request of Pakistan will not be implemented.

The Deputy Political Minister of Foreign Affairs made the remarks while, recently Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, the Prime Minister of the interim government of Pakistan, in a conversation with an Afghan local media outlet called the Durand Line an international border between the two countries.
