KABUL: The meeting between U.S. and Russian leaders regarding the resolution of the Ukraine war has elicited various reactions from countries around the world.
Saudi Arabia, the European Union, Canada, and Ukraine are among the nations that have made clear statements regarding the meeting.
Saudi Arabia welcomed the Trump-Putin meeting, stating in a released statement that it supports diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
On the other hand, the Canadian government reacted by asserting that the opportunity for peace in Ukraine under President Trump’s leadership has arrived.
The European Union, as a supporter of Ukraine, also responded to the meeting, emphasizing its commitment to Kyiv against Moscow and asserting that international borders should not be changed by force.
Additionally, the President of Ukraine reiterated that any decisions regarding Ukraine, particularly its territories, must involve a delegation from Kyiv.
Meanwhile, President Putin expressed optimism about the outcomes of his meeting with Trump upon returning from Alaska.
