KABUL: The Counter-Narcotics Deputy Ministry of Interior Affairs, said in a statement that 89.75 kilograms of heroin have been seized in the Shajoi district of Zabul province.
“The heroin which was hidden in a Swift-type vehicle, has been discovered and seized by the counter-narcotics of the province and two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case,” the statement said.
The statement stated that the arrested individuals will be introduced to judicial authorities following initial investigations.
In recent months, there has been an increase in the arrests of various drug traffickers across several provinces, including the capital, Kabul.
Since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, a strict ban has been imposed on all forms of drug trade nationwide, leading to the discovery and destruction of numerous drug factories in the past three years.
