KABUL: On the fourth day of the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, the death toll has risen to 2,205 individuals.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said in a statement on Thursday, that the number of injured from the Kunar earthquake has also increased to 3,640, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
He emphasized that these operations are continuing in the areas of Mazar Dara in the Nurgal district, as well as in the regions of Dewa Gul Dara, Chap Dara, and Sokai in the Manugi district.
The statement mentioned that tents have been set up for the emergency accommodation of earthquake victims, and urgent aid is being provided to them.
This comes after the death toll was reported at 1,157 yesterday evening.
