KABUL: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said today that 1,700 emerald mines have been registered in Panjshir province.
According to the Ministry, 550 private companies have received licenses for the exploration and extraction of Panjshir emerald mines.
Presently around 10,000 people are working in Panjshir’s mines, said the ministry.
It is worth mentioning that the extracted emeralds are being sold through public auctions.
