Afghan Kourush athlete Mohammadi wins 3rd place in 2025 Asian Youth Championships

KABUL: Mohammad Yahya Mohammadi, an athlete in the sport of “Kourosh,” has secured third place at the third round of the 2025 Asian Youth Championships.
Atal Mashwani, spokesperson for the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports, said in a statement on Sunday night, that Mr. Mohammadi successfully defeated opponents from Thailand and Turkmenistan in the 65 kg weight category during the third stage of the Asian Youth Championships but lost to his Iranian competitor.
With two victories and one defeat, he managed to earn the bronze medal in the competition.
The third round of the Asian Youth Sports Championships is being held in Bahrain, featuring 2,000 athletes from 45 countries around the world.
A 50-member sports delegation from Afghanistan is also participating in eight different sports at this event.
