KABUL: The Ministry of Information and Culture, said in a statement today that the miniature style “Prof. Kamal al-Din Behzad” has officially been added to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
The provincial head of culture and art of the Information and Culture Department of Herat noted that the proposal for registering this miniature style was made nearly a year ago. After approval from the “Cultural Heritage Protection Committee” of UNESCO, it has been included among the world’s cultural assets.
According to the statement, art experts have indicated that the Herat miniature style, which has a history of over six centuries, is one of the most celebrated artistic styles in the Eastern world. The registration of this heritage will facilitate better promotion of this art, attract cultural tourism, and garner international support.
According to the Ministry of Information and Culture, the miniature art style is the twenty-second intangible cultural heritage of Afghanistan to be registered with UNESCO.
