Uzbek high-ranking delegation meets IEA Prime Minister

KABUL: Leading a high-ranking delegation, Bakhtiyor Saidov Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, arrived in Kabul and met with Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Arg said in a statement Tuesday.

The Uzbek Minister of Foreign Affairs stated in the meeting that his country is ready to share its experiences with Afghanistan in important sectors such as the economy and agriculture, according to the statement.

Considering Afghanistan’s security, Minister Saidov said: “We are ready to invest in establishing a cement production plant, coal extraction, and the production of 200 megawatts of electricity from coal in Afghanistan”.

In the near future, a technical delegation of Uzbekistan will come to Afghanistan to conduct technical assessments on the Afghan-Trans Railway project.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan assured the Islamic Emirate of any cooperation for the implementation of Uzbekistan’s desired projects.

In the meantime, the Uzbek delegation held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund.

In the meeting, both sides discussed increasing transit between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, expanding trade relations, rebuilding railway lines, investing in Afghanistan, transferring electrical energy, eliminating transportation and customs challenges, and creating educational opportunities for Afghan youth.

On the other hand, Bakhtiyor Saidov also met with the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs.

After the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have unprecedentedly improved.
