KABUL: The personnel of the National Islamic Army of the 207th Al-Farooq Army Corps, rescued dozens of passengers stranded in flood in the Azizabad area, Shindand district of Herat province on Monday night.
According to a statement from the media office of the Army Corps, the forces of the first brigade of the 207th Al-Farooq Army Corps reached the scene when a passenger vehicle, type “580,” had overturned after being caught in the flood, and began the operation and rescued the passengers.
The statement noted that this timely action prevented a humanitarian disaster.
Mawlavi Mohammad Mansour Javed, the chief of staff of the 207th Al-Farooq Army Corps, was present at the head of the rescue operation.
The National Disaster Management Authority had forecasted rain, snow accompanied by thunder, and sudden floods in 24 provinces, including Herat, the previous day.
