KABUL: Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Minister of Interior Affairs, stated that the problems remaining from the occupation in the country should be resolved through jirgas (traditional gatherings) and dialogue.
He made the remarks today during the funeral ceremony of the late Mawlavi Mohammad Kalam Nafid, a former jihadi commander and brother of Shah Daraz Khan, in the Mergha area of Barmal district in Paktia province.
He noted that after fifty years, the country has achieved security and now does not want instability created by Pakistan within Afghanistan or from Afghan soil in Pakistan.
Haqqani described Afghanistan as a land of jirgas and negotiations, emphasizing that the issues remaining from the occupation period should be addressed through dialogue. He did not specify any particular problem.
The official also mentioned that he will not cease efforts for the welfare and advancement of the country.
It is worth noting that over the past four years, efforts by the authorities have continued to strengthen national unity through dialogue and jirgas.
