Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers Association interested in purchasing Afghan cotton

KABUL: The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers Association (BGMEA) has expressed interest in purchasing Afghan cotton during a meeting with an Afghan delegation.

Mohammad Shafi Azam, head of economic relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a post on his X stated today, that discussions were held between the Afghan delegation, led by Mawlavi Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, and BGMEA regarding investment opportunities in the textiles sector in Afghanistan.

He emphasized that companies under the BGMEA exported products worth $40 billion last year.

Furthermore, Bangladeshi officials announced yesterday their readiness to meet Afghanistan’s needs for pharmaceutical and quality medical products.

It is noteworthy that cotton is one of Afghanistan’s key agricultural and export commodities.
