KABUL: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations has strongly condemned recent Pakistani military strikes on refugee camps in Torkham, Nangarhar, and Takhta Pul, Kandahar, describing them as a “crime.”
In a statement issued Saturday night, the ministry said such attacks violate “international humanitarian principles and clearly violate human values,” adding that they have no justification.
The statement noted that refugees are civilians who were displaced due to past wars and insecurity and are now being forcibly deported by Pakistan in violation of international law. “Attacking these vulnerable individuals is not only a moral and human crime but also a violation of international law and the principles of war,” the statement read.
The ministry called on countries around the world and international organizations not to remain silent in the face of such “crimes” and to urge Pakistan to uphold its responsibilities toward civilians and halt such attacks.
According to the ministry, several refugees were killed and injured in the regime’s strikes on the “Omari” camp in Torkham and the “Anzargi” camp in the Takhta Pul area.
