Afghan and Iranian Foreign Ministers discuss recent regional developments

KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, held a telephone conversation with Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi to discuss recent developments in the region.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muttaqi expressed deep concern during the call and condemned the recent attack by the United States and Israel on Iran.
He also extended condolences and sympathy to the Iranian government and people over the targeting of Ali Khamenei the Supreme Leader of Iran.
Muttaqi reiterated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan rejects any violation of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, describing such actions as contrary to internationally accepted principles.
He called for an immediate halt to violence and urged the use of diplomatic channels to resolve the ongoing crisis peacefully.
For his part, Araghchi expressed appreciation for Afghanistan’s position and solidarity, and shared Iran’s perspective on the current situation and its actions.
The U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran has also drawn criticism from other countries, including China and Russia.
