Security Commission meeting held amid rising tensions after Kunar attack

KABUL: The Security and Purification Commission, chaired by Mawlavi Mohammad Yahqoob Mujahid, Minister of National Defense, held a meeting to assess the overall security situation across the country.

According to Sediqullah Nusrat, deputy spokesperson for the ministry, during the meeting, reports from various provinces were presented and discussed in detail, with participants making decisions aimed at addressing identified challenges and ensuring timely and effective responses.

Officials said the decisions were made to resolve issues highlighted in the reports and to improve operational effectiveness.

The meeting comes two days after heavy artillery attacks in Kunar Province, which resulted in the deaths of eight civilians and injuries to more than 80 others, including around 30 students from Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University in the provincial capital.
