KABUL: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has provided modern agricultural tools to 300 farmers in Uruzgan province to support the upcoming wheat harvest.
According to a statement released Tuesday, the distributed equipment includes electric harvesting machines, metal storage units, and tarpaulins designed to help farmers collect and preserve their crops more efficiently.
The ICRC has also delivered training on post-harvest wheat storage, to reduce losses and improve food security in rural communities, said the statement.
The organization said the initiative is intended to strengthen farmers’ capacity to protect their yields, noting that safeguarding harvests is essential for sustaining household livelihoods.
The support comes as Afghanistan prepares to begin its annual wheat harvesting season within the next month.
