LASHKARGAH: The Helmand provincial officials say nearly 20,000 kilograms of various types of narcotics seized during multiple operations across the province have been eliminated.
According to Mawlavi Mohammad Qasim Riyaz, spokesperson for the Helmand governor, a total of 19,297 kilograms of drugs were burned late Wednesday in the presence of Mawlavi Amanuddin Mansoor, the governor of Helmand, as well as civilian and military officials.
The narcotics, including opium, heroin, methamphetamine, hashish, chemical acids, narcotic pills, and other illegal substances, have been destroyed in the PRT area of Lashkargah city.
“Nearly 5,000 kg of raw and processed opium, 586 kg of methamphetamine, 272 kg of heroin, 1,252 kg of processed hashish, 417 kg of raw hashish, 331 liters of acid chemicals, 700 liters of narcotic syrup, and More than 9,000 narcotic tablets have been destroyed,” he said.
Authorities stressed that counter-narcotics operations will continue and vowed not to allow anyone to endanger public safety or the future of the country’s youth.
