Pakistan expelled nearly 4,500 Afghan migrants in one day

KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Issues said in a statement today that 4,448 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported from Pakistan in a single day.

According to the statement, the migrants returned to Afghanistan on Monday through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province and the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province after being expelled from Pakistan.

The statement said 3,249 people entered the country through Torkham, while another 1,199 returned via Spin Boldak.

The returning migrants were received by the commission’s registration committee upon arrival and later transported to their home areas through the commission’s transport committee.

Yesterday, the commission also reported the forced deportation of nearly 5,000 Afghan migrants from Pakistan in a single day.
