KABUL: Afghanistan’s Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) has signed a contract worth $46 million with the “TCRC” company for the construction of administrative complexes at nine border ports across the country.
According to Radio Omid’s correspondent, the agreement was signed on Wednesday in the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, by Mullah Faizullah Tamim, head of the Standards and Quality Authority, and representatives of the contracting company.
Under the agreement, the company will be responsible for providing modern equipment in three sectors electricity, construction, and laboratory facilities for the planned complexes.
The company will also provide capacity-building opportunities for employees of the Standards and Quality Authority both inside and outside Afghanistan.
Officials from the authority said the project is expected to be implemented over the next five years.
The development comes as Afghanistan continues efforts to standardize operations at its border ports amid expanding economic and trade relations with regional and international countries.
