More than 5,300 Afghan migrants forcibly deported from Pakistan in one day

KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Issues, said in a statement today that 5,332 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported from Pakistan in a single day.

According to the statement, the migrants entered Afghanistan on Friday through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province and the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province after being expelled from Pakistan.

4,845 people returned through Torkham, while another 487 entered through Spin Boldak, said the statement, adding that the returning migrants were registered upon arrival and, after receiving humanitarian assistance, were transported to their home areas through the commission’s transport committee.

On Friday, the commission had also reported the forced deportation of more than 1,000 Afghan migrant families from Pakistan in a single day.
