PUL-E-KHUMRI: Construction work on a rice processing factory worth nearly $2 million has begun in the country’s northern Baghlan province, local authorities said on Sunday.
According to a statement from the Baghlan governor’s press office, the foundation stone for the facility was laid in a newly established industrial park in the Cham Qala area of Baghlan-e-Markazi district.
The project is being funded and developed by the domestic company “Mobariz Barakzai,” officials said, adding that the factory is expected to contribute to regional economic growth, strengthen domestic production, and improve local livelihoods.
Authorities said the plant is also expected to create hundreds of jobs once construction is completed and operations begin.
During the ceremony, Baghlan Governor Mawlavi Abdullah Mukhtar inaugurated a new industrial park in the Cham Qala area aimed at promoting industrial development and attracting further investment.
Baghlan is one of Afghanistan’s major rice-producing provinces, and Baghlani rice is widely known across the country for its quality.
