Roof collapse claims three lives, injures a child

JALALABAD: At least three people were martyred and one child injured after the roof of two rooms in a residential house collapsed in eastern Afghanistan, local authorities said Tuesday.
Sayed Tayeb Hammad, Nangarhar police spokesman, said in a statement that the incident occurred at 9:30 Monday night in the Abdulkhil area of Achin District.
He said security and rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after the collapse and transferred the injured child to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities did not specify the cause of the collapse.
The incident comes a week after four members of a family were martyred in Kapisa province when a house roof collapsed following heavy rain and hailstorms.
